Retail Plumbing Fitout Sunshine Coast: Inside the TK Maxx Maroochydore Reno
TK Maxx Maroochydore recently reopened with a completely new look, and RPG Plumbing & Gas was brought in to handle all the behind-the-scenes plumbing work that made it possible.
The team re-routed water and drainage services throughout the space and installed a brand-new bathroom and kitchenette area — all while working within the tight timelines a retail refit demands.
What a Retail Plumbing Fitout Actually Involves
Planning and Service Re-Routing
In a commercial retail space, plumbing infrastructure often needs to shift entirely to suit the new layout. That means mapping existing water supply and drainage lines, working out what can stay and what needs to move, and ensuring everything meets the relevant codes and standards.
On a project like TK Maxx, that involved:
• Re-routing cold and hot water supply lines
• Relocating and reconfiguring drainage to match the new floor plan
• Coordinating with other trades to avoid clashes in the ceiling and wall cavities
Bathroom and Kitchenette Installation – Retail Plumbing Fitout
New amenity fitouts in commercial spaces need to be functional and built to handle heavier use than a residential bathroom. For TK Maxx Maroochydore, RPG installed complete bathroom and kitchenette facilities from the ground up: rough-in, fixtures, fittings, and final connections.
This kind of work requires an experienced commercial plumber who understands the requirements around backflow prevention, fixture grades, and compliance with the Plumbing and Drainage Act here in Queensland.
Project outcome
The renovation was finished on schedule, ready for the Christmas trading period. When a major retail store needs a full refresh before the Christmas rush, the plumbing has to be on time, on spec, and without disrupting the build schedule. Retail plumbing fit-outs come with their own set of challenges, and this TK Maxx project at Maroochydore is a good example of the planning and timing that commercial plumbing work involves.
